“Spinal Dysraphism- Life With Invisible Disabilities”. by Deanna Caroon

Hi, there ♥️ Thank you 🙏🏼 to my new subscribers! If you have been to my website, Facebook, Instagram page, and YouTube, you know I suffer from several medical conditions. I paint as a form of therapy and also write for the same reason. Thank you for taking this journey with me. This piece of artwork is named  “Spinal Dysraphism- Life With Invisible Disabilities” It is an Original Abstract Acrylic Canvas by me - Deanna Caroon. “ That which supports us can also make us suffer”.

In 2021 I went in for testing to see if I had a CSF leak in my spine a debilitating secondary effect caused by two diagnosed conditions known as IIH and EDS. Needless to say, there were a few incidental findings in my spine. One of them was a congenital defect called Spinal Dyspraphism. My treating physician to this day has not responded to discuss this with me. Talk about being left in the dark. I have many amazing doctors thankfully, that guide and care for me, but news like this was pretty devastating. I have researched it and found out that there is a 50% possibility it can be passed down to my children. Life is a crazy thing on the outside you can look so beautiful and things can look perfect, while on the inside things can be in utter disarray. My disabilities have taught me grace and to never judge a book by its cover. Each person has a story and we never know their struggles. This work of art started as a beautiful feather and my heart guided me elsewhere. Sometimes we need to tell our stories in hopes they may help someone else.

This was a recent image of my spine in all of its glory :). She is a beauty huh!?

As always sending you all so much love! I will leave y'all with one of my favorite quotes! “A beautiful body perishes, but a work of art does not. “ - Leonardo Da Vinci. Sending light and love.
